Gretchen Forrest has worked within the entertainment and play industries for most of her professional career.  For the past several years, she has been honing her skills in encaustic painting and pottery, resulting in an alternate path of increased exploration, growth, and mindfulness.  The shear versatility of the molten beeswax and clay continues to drive her creative journey- both embracing and challenging the boundaries of the mediums.

Her encaustic work leverages a consistent rhythm of mark making, brush strokes, carving, and collage to create repetition, patterning, and consistent flow of space.

The process of transforming stoneware clay into functional and timeless pieces drives her ceramic exploration, continually searching for the balance of form, volume, utility, and finish.

Gretchen’s work in both encaustic and clay are a result of her ‘a-ha’ moments of connection- moments of reflection.
